Rubber industry:
As a rubber anti-aging agent, 2,4,6-Tri-tert-butylphenol is widely used in synthetic rubber such as natural rubber and nitrile rubber, which can extend the service life of rubber products.
Plastic industry:
2,4,6-Tri-tert-butylphenol is used as an antioxidant in polyolefin plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene to prevent plastic oxidation and aging.
Other applications:
Photoprotectant: 2,4,6-Tri-tert-butylphenol is used for synthesizing light stabilizers.
Organic synthesis: 2,4,6-Tri-tert-butylphenol is used as an intermediate raw material for the preparation of phosphite antioxidants (such as 633, 641). 2,4,6-Tri-tert-butylphenol can also be used as an antioxidant for aviation fuel, a low efficiency stabilizer for synthetic rubber, and a thermal stabilizer for polyene and high impact polystyrene.
