As a polymerization inhibitor for vinyl monomers such as acrylic esters, methyl methacrylate, and styrene, 4-Methoxyphenol(MEHQ) prevents spontaneous polymerization during storage and transportation. Applied to UV cured resin, unsaturated polyester and other systems, it extends the storage life of materials by capturing free radicals.
