Diethylene glycol monomethyl ether is mainly used as a high boiling solvent for inks, dyes, resins, cellulose and coatings. When added to coatings, it can make it easy to flow, brush and level. It can be used as an extractant for hydrocarbons, and as an intermediate for the preparation of ester derivatives in the organic synthesis industry, as well as automotive brake fluid, chemical reagents in analytical chemistry, organic synthesis intermediates for pharmaceuticals and pesticides.
