Octocrylene CAS 6197-30-4 is an organic compound, an ester formed by the condensation of diphenylcyanoacrylate and 2-Ethylhexanol (a Fatty alcohol, which adds lubricating, oily and waterproof properties).
It is mainly used as a sunscreen active ingredient in sunscreen because it can absorb UVB and shorter wavelength UVA (ultraviolet) rays, which can protect the skin from direct DNA damage.
