Application
1.Ethylene glycol mono-tert-butyl ether is mainly used as a solvent in water-based systems, as well as in emulsion water dispersible coatings in the coating industry. Because the HLB value of ETB is close to 9.0, it functions as a dispersant, emulsifier, rheological agent, and cosolvent in the dispersion system. It has good performance for emulsion paint, colloidal dispersion paint, and soluble aqueous solution resin paint in water-based coatings, and is used for building interior and exterior wall coatings, car bottom coatings, etc.
2.Ethylene glycol mono-tert-butyl ether is used as a leveling agent and defoamer to improve the drying speed, flatness, glossiness, and adhesion of water dispersible coatings. Due to its tert butyl structure, it has high photochemical stability and safety, and can eliminate pinholes, small particles and bubbles in the paint film. The water dispersion feed made of ETB has good storage stability, especially under low temperature conditions in winter.
3.Ethylene glycol mono-tert-butyl ether can improve glossiness. The application of ETB in amino paint and nitro paint can prevent the formation of orange peel like spots, and improve the gloss of the paint film by 2%-6%.
